Brad Monkell is a bassist, stand up comedian, and radio personality currently living in Albany, NY. He began working as a bassist straight out of high school while attending The College of Saint Rose. Since 2015, he has performed well over 1,000 times across many genres in and around New York. As an in demand jazz, pop, and musical theater bassist, Brad has gotten to perform with world class artists such as Chuck Lamb, Eric Binder, Matthew Finck, Amy Bellamy, Sam Kininger, Chris Pasin, Pete Levin, Jorge Gomez, Ray Vega, Jimmy Madison, and Beau Sasser. He also regularly performs with Ten Most Wanted, his own group Bad Monk, and various jazz artists around the Capital Region. He has performed at The Bitter End, The Bowery Electric, The Knitting Factory, The Mercury Lounge, Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Cohoes Music Hall, The Adirondack Independence Music Festival, Fly Day Music Festival, and The City of Albany Presents: Alive at 5.
In 2019, Brad began doing stand up comedy and DJing for radio. As a stand up comedian he has opened for Duncan Trussell, Rich Vos, Jim Florentine, Geoffrey Asmus, Louis Katz, Carmen Lynch, Sarah Tollemache, Alex Dragicevich and Anthony DeVito. He has conducted over 100 interviews for radio with artists including Mike Clark, Daru Jones, Corey Fonville, DJ Harrison, Dupré "Doitall" Kelly, DJ Rasta Root, Eric Harland, Eric Krasno, Leo Nocentelli, Bubby Lewis, Jerry Marotta, Nigel Hall, Ian Lara, Ian Fidance, Gianmarco Soresi, Usama Sidiquee, Hans Kim, and Brian Moses.
